Somali Women’s Development Association Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation that provide services to the Australian Somali community in Victoria including women, young people, children, families, elderly, and people with disabilities

OUR OBJECTIVES 

Somali Women’s Development Association Inc. is committed to give a voice to those mentioned above who are voiceless and works with Victorian Somali community to:

  • provide services to clients across the lifespan, in the form of counselling, advocacy, family support, group work, psychoeducation, and complementary therapies.
  • work with clients from Somali community to improve their capacity to access services, and to enable those services to support cultural appropriate recovery.
  • offer professional support, mentor, consultancy, and information resources to assist Somali community, including health, education, and employment, to enhance the responsiveness of the services for participants of Somali backgrounds.
  • work with the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments to ensure that policies and programs are responsive to the needs of Victorian Somali community from refugee backgrounds.
  • conduct, and contribute to, research about issues relating to Victorian Somali community from refugee backgrounds.
